James Bond Lotus Esprit Turbo 'For Your Eyes Only'

James Bond continued his association with Lotus in For Your Eyes Only, driving this copper coloured Lotus Esprit Turbo in the latter half of the film. Featuring two pairs of skis mounted to the roof, this striking vehicle stands out against the snowy slopes when Bond’s mission to retrieve a stolen missile targeting system takes him to the Italian Alps.

The Lotus Esprit continued the British motoring association with the James Bond film franchise. Built between 1976 and 2004, the venerable series spanned eight model revisions, with numerous variants of each model. Featuring a fibreglass body on a steel chassis, the first S1 model of the car weighed under 1000kg. 

The car driven in For Your Eyes Only was an ‘Essex specification’ Turbo Esprit – before this model, vehicles had to have turbo chargers installed as an aftermarket conversion, whereas this car had the modification fitted as standard on the Lotus factory floor.

James Bond Gyrocopter 'Little Nellie' 'You Only Live Twice'

The ‘Little Nellie’ autogyro is a small one person aircraft, fully fitted out with a powerful selection of gadgets by Q Branch. Flown on an armed reconnaissance mission by James Bond in You Only Live Twice, Little Nellie is forced to prove its mettle when it is engaged by helicopters operated by SPECTRE.

In reality, ‘Little Nellie’ is actually an example of the Wallis WA-116 Agile autogyro. Developed in the 1960s by Ken Wallis, a former Wing Commander in the Royal Airforce, over ten examples of the aircraft were built, with different variants offering several alternative engines options. One example was even built to seat two people. Five of the WA-116s were built by Beagle Aircraft based in Shoreham in the United Kingdom, and one of these examples was modified for use in You Only Live Twice. ​​

James Bond BMW Z3 'GoldenEye'

The BMW Z3 Roadster seen in GoldenEye is issued to James Bond by Q Branch featuring a parachute braking system and Stinger missiles hidden behind the front headlights. In the end though, 007 does not need to use either in his pursuit of rogue MI6 agent Alec Trevelyan.

The first mass-produced Z series car, this sporty roadster was a popular vehicle for BMW from its debut in 1995 until it was superseded by the Z4 model in 2002. The two-seater Z3 was produced in both roadster and coupe versions with a variety of engine models, including a Z3M version that sat at the top of the range. However, the rarest of the Z3s were produced to tie into the release of GoldenEye.

One hundred special edition Z3 roadsters were built that featured: 

• 007 plaque on the dashboard 
• 007 floor mats;
• body paint, wheels and trim that replicated the screen used vehicle.
